The Castello di Buttrio Hotel is a splendid mansion, where the past glories evident at every step are elegantly supplemented by modern conveniences to make your stay as relaxing and memorable as possible.
The door to the reception area is surmounted by a large stone arch. Visitors are at once confronted with a superb wooden staircase from an early 20th-century Trieste-registered cruise ship. The barons Morpurgo had the staircase installed and Alessandra Felluga has had it refurbished.
Guests at the Castello di Buttrio have access to a series of salons for private events. The original stuccowork and two art nouveau doors are set off by pastel decor, stylish fabrics and an imposing Murano Rezzonico barchetta chandelier that grace the hall and its early 20th-century terrazzo veneziano floor.
Looking onto the garden with a view that stretches to the sea, the Pink Room features an oval table for communal breakfasts, which in summer are also served outdoors. It is also available as a private dining room where up to 14 diners can enjoy their food in the understated elegance of its antique rose, white and grey decor.
A crackling fire, stone walls and ceiling beams make this a magical ambience. The Fireplace Room is the ideal place for private dinners, for whispered conversations in the flickering firelight, for relaxing with a good book or for savouring a fine wine from the Castello di Buttrio cellars.
The stables were kept in good order for centuries. Today, they host weddings, receptions, fashion shows, wine tasting and other events among the wood and stone of the feeding troughs, pillars and tiny windows. All the features are original.
Castello di Buttrio’s wine attractions are rounded off by the Locanda, which is open every day. The atmosphere is unfussy but elegant and intimate in the 30-seater dining room, supplemented by 50 more seats outside. Fare is seasonal and local-focused.
